Terms & Conditions
These terms set out how you and ANZ Publishing House work together. Please take a moment to read them before engaging any of our services.
1. Overview
Welcome to ANZ Publishing House. These terms outline how we deliver publishing, ghostwriting, editing, cover design, formatting, illustration, marketing, printing and author website services to writers across Queensland, wider Australia, New Zealand and beyond.
By requesting a quote, placing an order, or using any part of our website or services, you're agreeing to these terms. If something here doesn't sit right with you, please don't proceed with our services. Individual projects may also come with their own written proposal or agreement, which works alongside these terms.
2. Key Terms Explained
Throughout this page, “we”, “us”, “our” and “ANZ Publishing House” refer to our business. “You”, “your” and “the author” refer to whoever is requesting or using our services. “Services” covers any of the publishing and creative offerings listed on our site. “Work” refers to your manuscript, artwork, files, content and any deliverables tied to your project.
3. Services We Offer
We're a fee-based service provider, not a traditional publisher that pays royalties. That means you hire us to complete specific work, you retain full ownership of your book, and 100% of any royalties earned belong to you.
Every project's exact scope, deliverables, number of revision rounds, and any third-party expenses are laid out in the quote or proposal we send before starting. Anything falling outside that agreed scope will be quoted as a separate item.
4. Pricing, Orders and Payment
We confirm pricing through a written quote following a free, no-obligation chat. Every quote is built around your specific project, so the number reflects exactly what your book needs. Quotes remain valid for the period stated on them.
- Work starts once your quote is accepted and any required deposit is paid.
- Larger projects may be broken into a staged payment schedule.
- Fees are quoted in the currency shown and don't include third-party costs like printing, ISBN registration, paid ad spend, hosting or domain fees, unless we say otherwise.
- We never take a cut of your royalties or sales income.
5. Your Obligations as an Author
To keep your project running smoothly, you agree that:
- Any material you supply is your own original work, or you have full rights and permission to use it.
- Your content doesn't breach any third party's copyright or trademark, and isn't unlawful, defamatory or harmful.
- You'll supply requested materials, feedback and sign-offs within a reasonable window.
- You're responsible for making sure your book's content is factually accurate.
- Delays in sending us materials or approvals may push out your project's timeline.
6. Ownership and Intellectual Property
Your book belongs to you. Once a project is paid in full, ownership of the final approved deliverables, your cover art, interior files, illustrations, or website transfers to you. You keep copyright over your manuscript and creative content at every stage.
We may feature completed work, such as a finished cover or title, in our portfolio and promotional material, unless you tell us in writing not to. Any internal tools, templates or processes we use to deliver your project remain our property. Confidential ghostwriting projects are always kept private, as outlined below.
7. Feedback and Approval Stages
Every service comes with a set number of revision rounds, outlined in your quote, so we can get things exactly right. At important milestones, we'll ask you to review and sign off on the work in writing before moving forward. Once a stage is approved, further edits to it may be treated as extra work and charged separately.
8. Project Timelines
We give every project an estimated schedule and work hard to stick to it. Timelines depend on the scope involved and on us receiving your materials, feedback, and approvals promptly. Estimated dates are given in good faith but aren't guaranteed, since certain stages, like third-party printing and distribution, sit partly outside our control.
9. Cancelling a Project or Requesting a Refund
If you need to cancel, please let us know in writing as soon as you can. Because our services are personalised, how much is refundable depends on how far the project has progressed:
- Work not yet started is generally refundable, minus any non-recoverable third-party costs already spent on your behalf.
- Work already completed or underway is charged for, and that portion isn't refundable.
- Third-party costs already paid, printing, ISBNs or advertising spend, can't be refunded.
Nothing here affects any rights you're entitled to under the Australian Consumer Law or New Zealand's Consumer Guarantees Act.
10. Keeping Your Work Confidential
We treat your manuscript, personal information and project details as confidential, using them only to deliver your services. For ghostwriting and similar projects, your identity and material stay private, and you're credited as the author. We're happy to sign a separate confidentiality or non-disclosure agreement if requested.
11. Third-Party Platforms We Use
Publishing, printing and distribution often rely on third-party platforms such as Amazon, Booktopia, Google Books, Apple Books, Ingram, Amazon KDP and IngramSpark. Each of these has its own terms, pricing and approval process, which you accept where applicable. We aren't responsible for these platforms' decisions, delays, availability or policy changes.
12. No Promise of Sales Success
We're committed to delivering high-quality work and giving your book every chance to succeed. That said, we can't and don't promise any particular level of sales, reviews, rankings, income or commercial performance; these depend on many factors outside our control, including market conditions and reader response.
13. Liability Limits
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim tied to a project is capped at the fees you've paid us for that specific project. We aren't liable for indirect or flow-on losses, including lost profits, sales, data or goodwill. Nothing in these terms removes any liability that can't legally be excluded.
14. Your Rights as a Consumer
Our services carry guarantees that can't be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, and for New Zealand-based authors, under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. These terms sit alongside those rights rather than replacing them. Where the law permits us to limit liability, we do so as described above.
15. Applicable Law
These terms are governed by Australian law. If you're based in New Zealand, relevant New Zealand consumer protections also apply. You agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in those regions for any dispute, though we'll always aim to resolve concerns with you directly and fairly first.
16. Updates to This Page
We may revise these terms occasionally to reflect changes to our services or the law. The most current version will always sit on this page, along with its last-updated date. The terms in force at the time you accept your quote are the ones that apply to your project.
